Event Summary
About the event
In our systemic practices, we create space for different parts of ourselves to be seen, to give voice and to enter more fully into unfolding relationship with themselves and each other to lead to a greater flourishing of the whole system. But what if the mother tongue of certain parts is not the dominant language of our daily lives & practitioner work, but something else? And what if these parts have a way of relating that is different to what is typical, and which has special new gifts to bring? How can we make sure we that we really do include these parts in our processes, and that we also benefit from their rich contribution to the systemic whole? My practice is based around an experiential inquiry into welcoming parts into presence and expression in their own languages – for me these are non-everyday vocal sounds & physical gestures - as part of processes in order to see what this brings for the parts involved and for the system overall. I see this approach as a practice of love in the sense that I am pushed to open my heart wide to allow space for all the different parts of me beyond the potential fear or rejection of my habitual responses. In our workshop, I am proposing that I will lead us through an individual inquiry into our own non-everyday voiced parts, offer an opportunity to bring those parts together in relationship with others and open up space for an exploration of collective voice & gesture emergence together.
About Ali
I’m a systemic practitioner with a background in whole-system group processes, mind-body practices and the arts. For many years, I led large-group experiences exploring essential systemic roles identified through the work of Barry Oshry & his Power Lab. I trained in meditation, the contemplative arts & contemplative psychology through Shambhala International & Karuna Training. I studied systemic constellations with Stephanie at the FELD INSTITUT. Over several years, I have taken part in collective performances with artist ensembles, including the Scratch Orchestra in England and, most recently, with others in Ireland.
