I’m a lively and well-rooted Irish woman with experience in multiple cultures and fields of knowing. Born and later educated in Northern Ireland, a childhood spent in Ghana with long stays in various European countries, brought appreciation for diversity as a necessity and a resource for deep systemic change in human awareness and consciousness. I immigrated/fled to Canada in the 70s when my first position in Belfast (counselling in both areas of a divided violent city ) became life-threatening. Among the multiplicity of peoples in Toronto, I raised two children and divorced, returned to graduate school, helped start a brief psychotherapy centre for women, edited a feminist journal, formed a community-based psychotherapy practice and therapist peer supervision, and started using arts-based research tto work out what shaped women’s transformation in their life journeys and relationships. When I fell in love and partnered Ed O’Sullivan in 1995, I was already making the profound shift to an Earth-centred understanding of transformation at personal and collective levels.
